Wine Grape pyrroline-5-carboxylate synthetase

This is a gene which helps in the synthesis and accumulation of proline in plants in response to osmotic stress. This is one of the very few genes which have been successfully transformed between plant species. So, this could be a good staring point for transformation for applications such as biodiesel production, binding with heavy weight metals, etc.
